It took three games before the reigning All Filipino champion Talk n Text Tropang Texters got their first win at the expense of the Coca Cola Tigers yesterday at the Cuneta Astrodome.
It was again a high scoring ball game as both teams were able to reached 100 points atleast. Jimmy Alapag and Tiras Wade combined forces to lead the Talk n Text to its first win of the conference, each scoring atleast 20 points. Tree more players from the Tropang Texters scored in double figures.
It was a close fight from the beginning, in fact the second half ended in a tie at 57 all. It was early in the third quarter where the Texters made a run that enabled them to established a double digit lead over the Tigers. But the Tigers were able to made their own run at the dying minutes of the third quarter allowing them cut down the lead to only two points after the end of the third quarter.
After a hot third quarter, JJ Sullinger went cold going to the final quarter while his counterpart Tiras Wade continued to dominate the scoring board. The Tropang Texters made an early run again at the start of the final quarter. Coke tried to stay in game but they turned the ball over too many times allowing the texters to pull away and secured their first ever win of the conference.
The win of the Talk n Text Tropang Texters yesterday was the result of a team effort. Though he did not manage to get a single point for his name, Yancy De Ocampo helped the Texter solidify their presence in the front court guarding the likes of Asi Taulava and Mark Telan.
I hope that with this win, the ball club will be able to get their rythm going and be successful with their next three fights.
