The busy streets of Uyanguren is best known for selling Chinese goods and merchandises. It has been the main business center for Chinese businessmen living here in Davao City for so many years already, that’s why it is called Davao’s Chinatown.
Last Monday, the streets of Uyanguren were closed as part of the celebration of the Chinese New Year. Arcilie invited me to join her and her mother to buy some stuff in Uyanguren. The place was crowded and there were a lot of “Ukay-Ukay” all over the place. Various chinese delicacies were also being sold in every corner of the streets.
People were busy buying stuff from the “Ukay-Ukay” while the others were busy choosing the what’s the best chinese food to eat. The newest Chinese mall called 168 mall was open to served late mall goers.
A huge wide screen monitor was set up and it showed nothing but the history of China and other Chinese films. There were also some live performances of the local artist.
I was little bit tired of hopping from “Ukay-Ukay” store to another to buy something for my mom and my dad but it was all worth it because I was able to take home 6 beautiful short pants for them for only 200 pesos. And oh before I forgot, Arcilie bumped into the most popular celebrity of Davao City none other than the Mayor himself.

I missed the place so much. sigh* so sad I’m very busy to get home soon. anyways regards to all the Davaweños out there. nyhahaha ganahan biya ko dira sa uyanguren kay daghan kayog barato nga baligya. daghan pa jud kaayo og chinese dira bantog ra gitawag na nila og china town. pero kanang sa 168 mall naa pod baya’y daghan nga koreano dira. basin puhon korean town na pod ang extension no? ngano kaha daghan og chinese dra? tungod ba nga kini daghan og crossing. nakapansin man gud ko nga basta naay crossig naa poy instik. unya mao ra to. cge lamat kaayo
