Summer Escapade in Little Boracay

Summer has just begun and what a way to spend my summer escapade than to spend it in Little Boracay. I never heard of the beach before until one of my colleagues mentioned it. I quickly browse the Internet for pictures to have an idea how the beach look like. True enough, the pictures taken from the beach are breathtaking. The mountains surrounding the beach, the white sand, and the uniquely designed cottages. Then my imagination runs wild, I was imagining that the beach is actually as beautiful as the famous beach Boracay in Aklan.

Then April 19, 2008 came, the scheduled date for our trip to Little Boracay. Around 3:30am we boarded a bus going to Digos. The travel was quite long and cold so I slept while listening to music. It was also my first time to travel at wee hours in the morning. Around 5:20 in the morning, we reached the Digos terminal. There, we waited for a jeep that we can rent to take us to Sta. Maria, the exact location of Little Boracay. After several minutes of waiting, we decided to take on the bus ride going to Sta. Maria. Another long and cold travel so I slept again since I didn’t have the chance to sleep a night before our trip.That\'s ate mai2 sleeping in the terminal

The trip going to Sta. Maria was quite an adventure because the road is comparable to the road going to Baguio. The road is like a letter “S”, you get the picture now?. The left side of the road is a cliff and the right side is a mountain. Around 6:30 in the morning we reached Sta. Maria proper. I thought the trip will end there only to find out that we still need to take another trip to finally reach the mysterious beach. While waiting for our ride, I had the chance to take a photo of the mountain. I’m not sure if this is the Famous Mount Apo. (LOL)Mountain covering Sta. Maria

Around 7:00 in the morning, we reached our destination, the elusive Little Boracay. The place is very private and the air is kinda relaxing. I can’t wait to get my feet on the beach. Even though I don’t have enough sleep I opted for a swim of almost 30 minutes. Good thing about our trip to Little Boracay is that the weather was fine.

The cottage that we occupied was secure and we are comfortable to leave our personal stuff because there’s a lock provided. There’s also a place for washing dishes and taking a bath. A comfort room is also provided for the beach goers. There’s also a store where you can buy foods and drinks. The thing I love about the place is there’s a videoke machine. Hehehe. I spent the last hour of our stay singing my favorite songs.Cottage

We rode a “bangka” to reach the other side of the island and to have a glimpse of the nearby beaches. The beach was not at its calmness that time so it made the ride more exciting. I just can’t help but scream every time the waves hit the boat. It was only my first time to ride a pump boat but it will certainly not the last. I love the experience and would love to do it again some time in the future.

I have to admit that the beach was not I have pictured it to be. The water is not as clear as compared to Canibad. Although the sand were fine and theres not much of corals still you have to watch out for sea urchin and dirt in the water.Little Boracay

Anyways, enough for the disappointments. I still love the whole place. It is very relaxing and you can really unwind and forget your whole life in the city for awhile. I didn’t spend too much time on the water because I already felt the need to sleep. After soaking in the water for almost 30 minutes, we ate breakfast and afterwards we took a shower.

I slept for a couple of hours, then ate my lunch and headed off to the videoke machine. Around 3:00 in the afternoon, our ride was ready to pick us up. It was almost 4:00 in the afternoon when we left the place. Though I didn’t have the chance to really get myself soaked up in the water still the experience was amazing and truly worth reminiscing. I love going to places where I can forget all my worries and be taken away by the beauty of nature.Nature

Here are another pictures from the Mariscal Beach Resort also known as Little Boracay.Cottages

Perfect View of Paradise

Little Boracay is a perfect place for a private moments with your family and friends. There aren’t too many people visiting the beach everyday. The cottages for day tour are safe. If your are planning for an overnight stay, an air conditioned cottage is waiting for you. There are also people who sells fresh fish, squids, and any other sea foods. One thing about the beach is that you need to spend for it. The fare from Davao to Digos is 60 pesos, from Digos to Sta. Maria is 40. I am not sure how much will it cost going to the resort but if you will rent a jeep, just prepare 300 pesos, that’s only good for one way trip. You do the mathematics for the total cost.

The entrance is 20 pesos, the cottage for the day tour is 200 and 1000 for overnight stay. You also have to add 10 pesos for the entrance if you decide for an overnight stay. The videoke machine costs 3 pesos per song. Foods and drinks are allowed with no extra pay. There’s also a safe parking space for your vehicles.

Lucky for me because I only need to spend 120 for the whole trip. Big thanks to Ma’am Jo and Ma’am Naneth for all the foods and other expenses. The experience was truly a memorable one.Beach
