Mood Swings

Lately, I myself can’t understand my sudden mood swings. My mood has been constantly changing and I can’t seem to do something about it, one minute I’m fine and the next thing I know I’m not talking. My mood swings has been really the major problem with me and the person who gets the most out of my moods is none other than my best friend. I know my mood swings can really be annoying at times because it just breaks everything.

Last Wednesday, I was in the middle of a good conversation with my best friend while heading to a fast food for breakfast and suddenly I just stop talking. I can really tell that she got annoyed because she went on her way as if she doesn’t have a company. I can’t really blame her for leaving me behind after all if I were in her shoe I will do the same.

I know this is one aspect of my personality that I need to change. I am not sure where I got this attitude, some says that it’s because I am the youngest of the family and other says that it’s because I was born in the month of August. I’ve heard from a lot of people that those who were born in August are known to be moody. I don’t actually believe in that one, anybody can be moody whether they were born in August or not.

I am not really proud that most of my friends and even my family describe me as moody. That’s basically the first word that will come out from their mouth when being asked to describe me.

Holiday Season

It’s been almost a month since I had my last post. Time flies so fast and I can’t barely catch up. I got side track with my work and the writer in me has been asleep for quite awhile that’s why I was not able to update this blog. When I checked on my other blogs, I found out that my second blog has lost its PR. Huhuhu

This blog manages to maintain its PR3. Just like my other 2 blogs this blog was not properly optimized and the post are not up to date. Despite of the lack of effort and time still good thing happens. It still has a PR3 and every day there’s a few number of visitors.

Anyways so much with the PR, I know I have a lot of work to do to gain lots of traffic and to make this blog appear in page one of Google’s search result but that will be done later as I am still busy up to this moment.

Let’s go back to how fast time flies. Three more months to go and we will be bidding goodbye to 2008. It seems that it  was only yesterday that we welcomed 2008 and now we are about to flip our calendars and welcome 2009.

Before waving goodbye to 2008, we have to celebrate Christmas first. Christmas is my all time favorite holiday season. I can’t really explain why. I am always excited and anticipating for the next Christmas season. When the calendar hits September, all my favorite Christmas songs are already being played in radio stations. There’s nothing fancy on how we celebrate Christmas day. We don’t have gifts for each other and no extravagant foods are being placed on the table. My mother only prepares the food that we requested from her. Her “pinaupong chicken” has always been on top of the list.

The fact that our family is complete that makes my Christmas a truly meaningful one. There’s no greater gift than see my family happy and healthy throughout the year.

2008 has been a wonderful year for me, a lot of good things happened. Things that I will forever keep inside my heart. Though there were tough and rough times still I can consider 2008 as one of the best year of my life.

Sunday at People’s Park

Last Sunday was one of the longest Sunday I ever had. My day started by taking care of the house since my mom was sick. I have to do things that I don’t usually do like washing dishes, cleaning the house, and washing several clothes. Don’t get me wrong, I know how to do all those things it’s just that my mom usually do things for me since my work requires me to sleep all day.

I woke up around 8am, there was no time for me to sit and think of the things I could do for the day. First up was to wash the dishes that has been filed up. Since I’m no master in the said chore, it took me 1 hour to finished my first assignment. Then it’s time to take care of the clothes and prepare food for breakfast.

After washing the clothes and preparing breakfast, I then started cleaning the house, it was almost 12 noon when I finished everything. While sitting on the chair trying to catch my breath and watching my nephew playing with his toys, the idea of taking him to People’s Park suddenly popped into my head.

I told my mom that I’m going to take JB to People’s Park and she’s alright with it. I also want to keep my nephew away from my mom so that she will be able to have a good rest. We left home around 3 in the afternoon.

It was my first time to take my nephew for a stroll and it was also his first time to go to People’s Park. Before going to the park, we ate first at Jollibee, it’s his favorite food chain.

As I expected, there were many people in the park. There were kids running around in the wide ground of the park. I saw the excitement in my nephew’s eyes as he tried to observed everyone. At first he was shy and afraid but a few minutes later, he was running around just like any other kids. I just followed him wherever he wanted to go. There’s one place in the park that he really likes, it’s the Sunken Garden. He likes it there because of the fish. If I can remember it right, he went there 5 times.

Around 6 in the evening, my best friend came to join us. JB and Arcilie became an instant best friend. Hehehe. Our last stop was in the kids playground. We let him do his own thing. I was amazed with how my nephew behaved and got along with the other kids. He was not really used to being with other kids because he’s always at home all alone. He was all by himself, we just watched him at the side to make sure his safety.

Around 7 in the evening, we left the park. We went to NCCC mall because Arcilie needs to buy something for their store. We used the shopping cart that allow kids to ride on it, since it was almost 8 in the evening when we got out from the supermarket, Arcilie and I decided to take JB to Jollibee for the second time. Arcilie paid the bill. Hehehe (Thanks Bes!).

It was already 9 in the evening, it’s time for JB to go home. Basically, it was JB’s day last Sunday. I know he had a lot of fun as I had a lot of fun watching him also. I have to thank my best friend for being an instant Tita to JB.

My Trip to Iloilo

I had my very first experience of riding an airplane last August 14, 2008. We went to Iloilo for a 2 days training together with the Iloilo administrators. We boarded Air Philippines going to Cebu and then to Iloilo. We reached our destination around 3 in the afternoon. The flight from Davao going to Cebu is approximately 55 minutes and from Cebu going to Iloilo is approximately 25 minutes. We ate in the restaurant called Afriques, their food was great. Afterwards, we headed straight to the office. I finally met the Iloilo administrators. They were all great and pleasant to talk with. We left the office around 8 in the evening. Althone and I went straight to our hotel and Ma’am Jo went straight to her own home. We stayed at the Sarabia Manor Convention Hotel.

Friday: We had a whole day conference at one of Sarabia’s conference room. We discussed everything that needs to be discussed. The conference ended at around 5 in the afternoon. Right after the conference, I went to SM to buy something for my mother, my nephew, and for my friends then back to the hotel to get some rest and get ready for tomorrow’s activities.

Saturday came and we continued our conference. We held the conference in the office. Then it was time for us to have fun. We had our dinner at the Emilion Hotel and then head straight to Smallville. Smallville is place where you can see different bars and resto. The place is ideal for a Saturday night out. We parted ways at around 11:30 in the evening. I went straight to the hotel and get ready for my flight back to Davao.

Although, I didn’t have the chance to see the beautiful places of Iloilo still I can say that my visit in Iloilo was a wonderful experience and I enjoy every moment of it. The Iloilo administrators were all nice and I have to thank them for their warmed welcome.

Probably the best Batman movie I have ever seen, I had a lot of fun watching it. I love everything about the movie, it’s totally great. As I expected, the cinema was jam packed. I was able to watch Dark Knight on its first week of showing. It is probably one of the best that I have seen this year.

Christian Bale looks hot in his Batman suit with his Bat Mobile. For me he is one of the best actor who played the role of the rich and playboy Bruce Wayne. Morgan Freeman and Michael Caine also were great in their respective character. But my heart goes out to the late Heath Ledger, who did an excellent job in playing the role of Joker. He was just superb and stunning in playing the character. He truly made the life of Gotham’s superhero miserable.

The visual effects were at its best and everything else was just perfect. Bruce Wayne’s gadgets and devices were pretty much amazing especially the one he used to track down Joker before he can blow up the two ships that carry thousands of people from Gotham City.

Bruce Wayne and other Gotham police officials as well the new district attorney name Harvey Dent played by Aaron Eckhart are out to eliminate criminals living in the city but their war against the criminal minds was not easy as they are to lose someone dear to them. Although Batman was able to defeat Joker and company, another enemy will soon rise to stand in Batman’s way to make Gotham a safe place.

Dark Knight shatters box office records by raking up to $18.5 million on its opening day. The previous box office record holder was Stars Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith when it reached $16.9 million in its opening day.

What’s in a Name

Out of boredom, I search the web to check if there’s a result for this keyword “melissa”, I was surprised to see a lot of results. Of course one of results is my blog but what’s important is that there are several sites that define the word “melissa”.

From the definition in Wikipedia, Melissa is a name given to a female. In greek methology, Melissa means honey bee. In 2007, Melissa is the 117th most popular name in the United States. It ranked second place in the year 1977. It was among the top ten most popular names for girls from 1967 to 1984. Melissa also refers to the plant known as lemon balm.

On March 26, 1999, Melissa shut down Internet mail systems that got clogged with infected e-mails propagating from the worm. Melissa was not originally designed for harm, but it overflowed servers and caused unplanned problems.

Melissa was first distributed in the Usenet discussion group alt.sex. The virus was inside a file called “List.DOC”, which contained passwords that allow access into 80 pornographic websites. The worm’s original form was sent via e-mail to many people.

Melissa was written by David L. Smith in Aberdeen Township, New Jersey, and named after a lap dancer he encountered in Florida. The creator of the virus called himself Kwyjibo, but was shown to be identical to macrovirus writers VicodinES and Alt-F11 who had several Word-files with the same characteristic Globally Unique Identifier (GUID), a serial number that was earlier generated with the network card MAC address as a component. Smith was sentenced to 20 months in a federal prison and fined $5,000 United States dollars. This arrest was a result of collaboration between the FBI, New Jersey State Police and Monmouth Internet.

A Year That Was

It was July 09, 2007, when I started working with Eversun Software Philippines Corporation. After 12 months of being in the company, a lot of good things happened to me, things that I will always remember wherever life may take me.

It was indeed a wonderful journey for me. My first year in the company was truly unexpected. To be honest, I applied for a Writer position but was given the Link Builder position. Most of the new applicants have to undergo a client interview first before they can actually start working but it was not the case for me. I got a call from Ma’am Jo around 11:55 in the evening of July 06, 2007, she told me that I already have a client and will start working on Monday (July 09, 2007).

Then came July 09, 2007, I was excited and at the same nervous because I don’t have any clue of what kind of job I will be doing for my client plus my client’s identity was also unknown to me. Then it was time to get the ball rolling, everyone was busy minding their own business and I was also busy trying to figure things out on my own. Thanks to the people who were ahead of me, they made things a lot easy for me.

After three months of working with my client, it was time to bid goodbye to him as he made it clear to me right from the start that he will only need my service for 3 months. I learned a lot from that span of time and I was able to equipped myself with necessary skills for my next client only to find out it was my first and last client.

I was given the chance to prove my worth as I was chosen to become the Project Manager / Agent Supervisor of the morning shift. I was happy and flattered and at the same time tense because I am going to embark a whole new role in the company. The first two months of being the PM or AS was very challenging but with the help of my supervisors, I was able to get out of the dilemma.

Months passed by and things are getting better and better for me and then I was given another opportunity. At first, I was only a part time Training Development Officer and then later on the office decided to make me a full time Training Development Officer.

Words are not enough to express how I truly feel with all the opportunities that Eversun has given me. All I wanted is to find a job that I am going to love for the rest of my life but I was given the opportunity of a lifetime.

Although it was not really a perfect journey for me because there were ups and downs along the way but I am not going to dwell on those moments because I think the good moments overshadowed the bad ones.

I am hoping for another wonderful year with the company.

I will always be thankful to GOD for everything he has done for me.

The kid in me strikes again. Oh yes! Last June 15, My best friend and I watched Kung Fu Panda. As expected the movie house was full of little kids. Watching kid movies like Kung Fu Panda reminds me of how great it is to be always a kid.

I have been facing a lot of problems lately and the best way to release all the stess that I have been carrying for weeks now was to watch Kung Fu Panda. I have seen the full trailer of the movie and right then and there I knew I am going to watch the movie, with our without a companion. I have always been a huge fan of kids movies and this one was a total winner.

Kung Fu Panda is a story of a Panda named Po whose dream is to fight with the five greatest warriors the world has ever known (The Legendary Furious Five) but the problem is that, Po don’t have any experience with Kung Fu. One day the Jade temple announces for the search of the next Dragon Warrior, everybody in the City including Po headed to the temple to witness who’s going to be the next Dragon Warrior.

Po almost didn’t make it, luckily he was able to come up with a very brilliant idea. He sat on a chair and put a firecracker in every corner of it and then light them up. His plan was a success and his idea made it look like he fell down from the sky. When the great Oogway was about to point his finger to the next Dragon Warrior, Po suddenly fell right infront of him. Master Shiffu thought that it was an accident but Master Oogway insisted that there is no accident and that Master Shiffu must train him to become the next Dragon Warrior.

As the new Dragon Warrior, Po must protect the City from any threats and from the evil Tai Lung. It also means that he is now working with the legendary furious five. At first, Master Shiffu did everything he could to make Po change his mind and eventually back out of the training but he failed. Until one day he saw something amazing from Po that made him train Po to become the Dragon Warrior.

Having the heart of a true Dragon Warrior, it was easy for Po to defeat Tai Lung and he was able to save the City from all of his distractions.

Just like any other movies, it has a moral lesson that the creator of the film wants to convey to the audience. If you were able to watch the film I am sure you know what it was. For those who didn’t have the chance to watch the movie, the lesson of the movie is that no matter how good you are, it will not really matter if you only care for your own good and not for the good of the entire people.

The movie is 1 hour and 30 minutes long with a rating of General Patronage. As a movie fan, I will give this movie a rating of 10 for a job well done.

Isla Reta Adventure

I spent my first weekend for the month of June in Isla Reta. It is located in Talicud, Samal. The place was beautiful and the experience was truly an unforgettable one.

Barge going to Isla Reta

First let me tell you how to get to Isla Reta. The gang meet up at Sta. Ana Wharf where the barge going to Isla Reta is waiting. There is only one trip going to the resort so you really need to be at the wharf before 9:30 in the morning because that will be the first and last trip going to the beach. The fare is 70 pesos and the ride is 40 minutes to 1 hour before reaching the destination.

The entrance is 150 for adult and 75 for kids thats for an overnight stay. For day tour the entrance is 75 for adults and 50 for kids. Isla Reta doesn’t have fancy restaurants or luxurious cottages, the place is really simple yet it gives you a total relaxing feeling. Food and drinks are allowed with no additional fee and you are also allowed to set up your own tent at no extra cost.

Cottages

If you want to enjoy and make the most out of your time in Isla Reta, I highly recommend an overnight stay because if you will not you won’t be able to enjoy the beauty of the island because the barge leaves the beach at 3 in the afternoon.

Isla Reta

Just like any other beach in Samal, Isla Reta has a very fine white sand and the water is very clear and inviting. The only thing is that the beach is not at all clean maybe because it was raining prior to our visit so the dirt from the mountains that surrounds it migrated to the water. The dirt didn’t stop us from soaking into the water. Since I can’t swim, I am limited to a certain part of the beach where I can still reach the bottom part of the beach with my feet.

Samal Beach

I was with the same company when I went to Little Boracay and Canibad but there was one additional person. A person whom I have never been with when I’m out at the beach. The person that I am talking about is my best friend. It was our first time together at the beach, which made the outing more fun. It has been awhile since we bonded together and going to Isla Reta was a great way to catch up with the lost time.

Me and my Best Friend

We left the beach afternoon of June 9 with a big smile in our face and a feeling of satisfaction. Although there were few disappointments (too many mosquitoes in the cottage and no outlet for charging our phones) but the adventure was all worth it.

Nostalgic

I have been very busy with my work lately. Working at night keeps me from doing the things I usually do when I am working in the morning. My routine is basically work and home, I work at night and then I sleep all day long. I have to say that I don’t have troubles sleeping anytime of the day because that’s where I’m good at. I can basically sleep almost everywhere anytime. No matter how long my sleeping hours in daytime, still the sleep that I get during nighttime is way too different. I still go for the night time sleep no matter how short it is.

I have been working at night for almost a month now, and I am starting to feel nostalgic of all the things that I used to do. One bad thing about working at night is that my social life is cut-off. I can’t go out with my friends anymore. I can’t get to watch movies at night. You might say, Oh come on you have all the time during weekends. Weekends? I am pretty much lazy during weekends. I don’t really like going out during weekends. You barely see me hang out with my friends on weekends. My ideal weekend is lying all day long in my bed, watch t.v for a couple of hours, and then sleep, sleep, and lots of sleep.

My best friend has been my constant companion. We watch movies together, eat together, sing at the videoke bar together. We are basically inseparable that even some people misinterpret our friendship because of our closeness. My best friend has been one of my source of strength when I am weak, although sometimes I am such a pain in her neck. Our friendship is not at all perfect, we fight over petty things and sometimes we have issues about honesty. I guess its normal for friends to fight sometimes because it can only make their friendship a lot stronger.

Over the years, our friendship encountered a lot of rough times. There were times that I am ready to give up but she hold on to me and never let me go. Good thing she did because I will be pretty much alone if she didn’t. When I try to think of the times that we were so loud and just basically laughing our hearts out, I just can’t help but smile.

Now, that we have our own career and our work schedule doesn’t seem to meet, I can only hope that one of these days we get to spend some quality time together.
